I went to LinuxWorld in Boston yesterday. This is the first LinuxWorld i’ve ever been to, having been familiar with MacWorld’s, the LinuxWorld expo is fairly small and was very much geared towards big enterprise things and not desktop things. There is a lot of talk about Linux on the desktop, and I think linux can work well as a desktop for many users. Maybe there just isn’t enough money in it for the big players to push it. Desktop linux is already available using almost any major distro and home users don’t buy many support and maintenance contracts, so there isn’t much for large vendors like Redhat or Novell to sell.
